Pershing Health System (PHS) felt the holiday joy as they raised nearly $7,000 over the course of three weeks for their annual Christmas sponsorship.

Each year PHS sponsors one community service project to support local community organizations and the citizens they serve. For the third year in a row, PHS partnered with and supported the Ninth Circuit Children’s Division.

“We chose the Ninth Circuit Children’s Division because we felt it was a vulnerable population that gets looked over,” said hospital social worker Heather Wood.

PHS sponsors the organization completely internally, with staff donating clothing, bedding, and toys for Linn county foster children’s Christmas presents. All donations came from the good will and generous hearts of staff members rather than hospital funding.

The goal of PHS each year with the division is to provide something for every foster child in Linn county. This year the staff was able to provide for about 60 children.
