A three-vehicle crash July 21 on U.S. Highway 36 was almost deadly for three motorists.
The collision between two motorcycles and one SUV shut down a portion of U.S. Highway 36 for nearly two hours.
At approximately 10 a.m. July 21 a Ford Explorer owned by Carolyn Wolfe, of Macon, was merging onto U.S. Highway 36 in Linn County. Wolfe’s vehicle collided with two motorcycles headed westbound on 36.
Jessye and Audrey Ford, of Callao, Mo., and Russell Watts, of La Plata, Mo., were on their way to a car show when they were struck westbound on 36 by Wolfe. Wolfe failed to yield to the motorcyclists, causing her to be in their path. The impact from the crash totalled both motorcycles and resulted in extensive damage to the Ford.
Watts and both Fords were life-flighted to University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Wolfe did not require immediate treatment.
Missouri Highway Patrol Troop B was assisted by the Linn County Sheriff's Office, Brookfield Fire Department and Linn County Ambulance. U.S. Highway 36 reopened just before noon later that day.
