Two Brookfield residents were killed in a traffic accident Aug. 3 at approximately 10 a.m. on Highway 5 North of Marceline.
The crash involved a work van and a semi, they collided after the work van crossed the centerline of Highway 5.
At approximately 10 a.m. Aug. 3, a traffic accident killed two motorists and injured three others on Missouri Highway 5 three miles North of Marceline. One vehicle, a work van headed northbound on Highway 5 crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a semi heading southbound toward Marceline.
The driver and front passenger of the work van, Dennis and Wendy Allen, of Brookfield, have been pronounced deceased. Dennis was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:05 a.m. by Linn County Coroner Kenney Creason. Wendy was pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m. after arriving to Pershing Memorial Hospital. The next of kin for both Dennis and Wendy Allen have been notified.
The other two passengers of the work van, Connor and Justus Allen, as well as the driver of the semi Pablo Moore-Aguilar, of Kansas City, Mo. received minor injuries. All three parties were delivered to Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield by Linn County Ambulance.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop B was assisted by the Marceline Police Department, Marceline Fire, Linn County Sheriff’s Office, Linn County Ambulance and Marceline First Responders. Highway 5 had been closed from the time of the accident until after 4 p.m. MoDOT of Brookfield arrived at the scene at 12:30 p.m. to direct traffic.
The family is asking for donations be made to Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline.
