The Adair County Sheriff’s Office has released its inmates numbers for the month of August, showing the Detention Center held an average of 60 inmates per day that month.

In total, 100 new inmates were received at the jail during the month of August. The highest daily inmate population count during August was 69 individuals.

August is the month with the third-highest number of inmates received this year, behind June with 109 and July with 105.

During August, 15 people were held for traffic offenses. 11 were held on failure to appear warrants and 14 on probation or parole violations. Ten people were held for drug offenses, nine for assault or other violent offenses, and two for theft or stealing. Five people were held on 12-hour protective holds and nine on 24-hour investigative holds. Nine had been sentenced to serve time in county jail. The other 27 were held for miscellaneous other offenses.

Adair County has received 770 arrestees so far this year; 88 of those were held more than once during the year. In August, the county held 23 inmates for other counties or agencies. They have held 247 such inmates over the year to date.
