With the overwhelming support of the community shown in Tuesday’s election, it is only fitting to allow those directly affected to express their gratitude.  This was the mission as the LCL set out to talk with the staff and students at Marceline R-5 about the bond passing.
“For me personally, the overwhelming support of the voters was very affirming,” said Melia Franklin.  Franklin is a teacher at R-5, and spent many hours working towards the passage of the bond. “Clearly district patrons champion the school,” said Franklin. “As a result of that support, I hope we can continue to turn out well-educated students for a long time to come.”
The Marceline High School Student Council also played a part in the bond’s acceptance, and the senior representatives were happy to comment.  “The bond issue has created a better learning environment,” said Senior Class Representative Mariah Brehm.  “It is easier to concentrate when you are not freezing.”  Fellow Representative Brooke Niemeier agreed:  “We’re glad to have a community who cares about the safety and comfort of students.”  Student Council President Bryce Cupp noted the impact of the new agriculture facility.  “The new [agriculture] building will better our ability to learn the necessity of rural Missouri farming,” explained Cupp.  “[This is made possible by] giving the students a much better learning facility.”
