LINN COUNTY – This past Friday, a Senior Health Fair was held at the YMCA, Brookfield. Sponsored by the Linn County Senior Falls Prevention Coalition in collaboration with many area businesses.
The Coalition presented their plan for enhancing Linn County Seniors’ health opportunities and reducing falls among the Seniors. There were informational booths and many exercise and educational demonstrations.
The Health Fair offered balance and vision screenings, understanding of common issues that put anyone at risk for falls, learning about choices that can be made to maintain independence, and how to take an active roll in improving quality of life.
Area participants of the Coalition were Life Care Center of Brookfield, Linn County Ambulance District, Linn County Health Department, McLarney Manor Skilled Nursing Facility, Pershing Health System Hospice and Rehab, Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center by Americare, Tiffany In-Home Services, Workout for Wellness, Brookfield Fire Department, Regional Hospice of Liberty, Community Medical Equipment, Remedies Pharmacy and Medical Equipment, Servelink, LinCare, Inc., Green Hills Community Action Agency, NWMO Area, Airevac Life Team, Hospice Compassus, Premier Eye Care Association, Life Flight Eagle, Hedrick Medical Center, Low Vision Support Group, and Safari Salon Wellness and Message.
