Academic achievement is something that is oftentimes overlooked in this society of instant gratification.  Being smart doesn’t necessarily show up quickly, and the most intelligent usually don’t tout their accomplishments.  Such was the case with Stephen Abbott of Brookfield High School.  It was Stephen’s Academic Bowl Coach, Pat Swift, who brought him to the LCL’s attention.
Pat alerted us that Stephen had scored a 33 out of a possible 36 on the ACT.  The ACT is a test used much like the old SAT to gain entrance to college.  This score qualifies Stephen for a number of scholarships, including Bright Flight.  Stephen is the first student in a while, according to his coach, to achieve this status at Brookfield High School.
