The Meadville Eagles and Lady Eagles hosted Tina-Avalon on Friday night for their Homecoming celebration, where alumni returned to Meadville, and the 2012 Homecoming court was crowned with a Queen and King (see today’s front page).
The Lady Eagles started off be falling behind when Tina-Avalon hit a three-pointer to respond to an opening free throw by Beth Crosser. A long ball by Erin Shiflett just north of the five minute mark gave Meadville back a lead they would not relinquish for a bit. The Lady Eagles led 8-3 after one quarter, and were on a 7-0 run at the end of the frame.
The run reached 9-0 thanks to a basket by Haley Fitzpatrick, but a 9-0 run of their own by Tina-Avalon would tie the game, and put the Lady Eagles down 15-13 at the half.
In the nightcap, the Eagles had a much different time of things. Derek Smith found Lee Young early on, and sent Meadville on an 18-0 run to open the game. After one quarter, the Eagles led 21-4.
Young scored first to set the Eagles off on a 4-0 run to start the second quarter. Keaton Duncan was a blocking machine in the firs thalf, and Meadville led 37-9 at the half.
