The final winter sports chapter of the Highway 36 Rivalry played itself out at Tiger Fieldhouse last night as the Marceline Tigers welcomed the Brookfield Bulldogs to town for a team dual. The teams had eight contested matches, and Brookfield won seven of them to take a 51-9 team score win.
“First of all we have to tip our hats to Brookfield,” said Marceline Head Coach Josh Moore. “They showed up tonight and took it to us every match. It didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to, but we are a young team and are working on it. We will lick our wounds and get back to work tomorrow.”
“The team came out ready to wrestle and started off with high intensity from the start,h said Brookfield Head Coach Ben Jackson. “We controlled the pace of the match and controlled the outcome. I can’t be too upset with winning seven of eight matches, that’s a good thing.”
