Four Area Teams Open at Meadville Tourney

he Meadville Invitational Basketball Tournament’s 2012 edition opened Monday night at the gym in Meadville, and sees a number of area teams in action.  Teams from Meadville, Linn County R-1, Macon County and Northwestern are all in the running.


The second seeded Lady Eagles of Meadville opened with a Homecoming rematch against Tina-Avalon, playing the Lady Dragons for the second time in three days.  Meadville dominated this game, allowing Tina-Avalon to score only nine points, all of those coming in the second quarter.

The late game on Monday night involved the Meadville Eagles taking on Grundy County, and winning a 76-26 blowout.

On night two, the action opened with Macon County taking on Linn County in boys action.  The fifth-seeded Raiders topped the fourth-seeded Mustangs 57-49. 

The sixth-seeded Linn County Lady Mustangs lost to third-seeded Hale 54-39.

In a clash of a pair of Area basketball teams, Macon County topped Northwestern in girls action 55-51.
