Dr. Kevin Lee Rhodes, a modern-day Renaissance man gifted in the sciences and the arts, died unexpectedly at his home in Kirksville, Mo. He was 45.

Dr. Kevin Lee Rhodes, a modern-day Renaissance man gifted in the sciences and the arts, died unexpectedly at his home in Kirksville, Mo. He was 45.

Born Feb. 23, 1973, in Hannibal, Mo., Kevin was the son of Michael Lee and Deborah Sue (Engle) Rhodes, who survive.

He is also survived by one brother, Steve Rhodes and his wife Lisa Renze-Rhodes, Fishers, Ind.; one sister Kristi Rhodes, Louisville; a grandmother, Lillian Engle, Hannibal, Mo.; an uncle Pat Rhodes and his wife Terry, St. Louis; an aunt Colleen Jones and her husband Rick, Center, Mo.; and two cousins Bryan Jones and his wife Christina, St. Louis; and Nathan Jones, Hannibal, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Doris Rhodes and Lloyd Engle.

Kevin was family-focused and took great delight in spending time with his loved ones on family vacations, golf outings and holidays and other special occasions.

He was a dedicated internal medicine physician at Northeast Regional Medical Group in Kirksville where he worked largely with elderly patients for most of the past decade.

In addition to his practice, Kevin taught at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was an assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and he also taught resident physicians.

He earned a Fellowship with the American College of Osteopathic Internists in 2010, was board certified with the American College of Osteopathic Internists in 2003 and trained in Diagnostic Endoscopy and Wound Clinic Procedures.

Kevin earned his medical school degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2000. He was a 1995 graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, and a 1991 graduate of Mark Twain High School.

Funeral services will be 6:00 PM Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Countryside Christian Church in Kirksville, MO. Pastor Harold Engel will officiate. Visitation will precede services from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Countryside Christian Church in Kirksville, MO. Services are under the direction of the Travis-Noe Funeral Home of Kirksville, MO.

Funeral services in Hannibal, MO will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. Pastor Dan Peters will officiate. Burial will be at Center Cemetery in Center, MO.

Friends and family are invited to Kevin’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of services Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
