Thomas "Red" Maurice Gatson, 57, Brookfield, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at the home of his sister in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010, at St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe. Friends may call from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe, and from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield. The family will receive friends from 4-6 Sunday evening at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield. Burial will be in St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe.

He was born April 18, 1952, in Livingston County, son of C.R. "Buck" and Mary M. (Dorney) Gatson.
He was a 1970 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Chillicothe. He served in the United States Army as a Buck Sergeant from 1970-1972 where he was stationed in Vietnam for nine months. He attended Kansas University, Baker University, and Missouri Western in St. Joseph, where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education (History). He lived in Chillicothe his entire life, moving in 1980 to Brookfield, where he was a teacher, then General Manager of Pepsi Company, Brookfield, for 20 years, then became a teacher and coach in Chillicothe. He was a member of Brookfield Elks Lodge No 8748, Brookfield Country Club, American Legion District Commissioner, and coached the Vern R. Glick American Legion Post 25 baseball team.
Survivors include one son, Ben Gatson, Kansas City; one daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Stephen Stockman, Princeton; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Larry Gatson, Tim and Gwen Gatson and John and Brenda Gatson, Chillicothe; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Cecelia and Mike Grindel, Atlanta, Ga., Anne and John Rutherford, Tampa, Fla., Margaret and Mitch Maggard, Dayton, Ohio, and Theresa and Jack Kelly, Chillicothe; one aunt, Elizabeth Venable, Chillicothe; two grandchildren, Summer Gatson, Kansas City, and Kaydence Stockman, Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one niece, Sheri Rutherford, and his grandparents.
