Robert “Bob” Clarkson, 85, Laclede, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at McLarney Manor, Brookfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Laclede United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Fine officiating. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today, March 1, 2010, at Wright-Baker-Funeral Home, Brookfield, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 this evening.
Memorials to Laclede United Methodist Church may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, Mo. 64628.
Robert I. was born December 25, 1924, in Brookfield, son of Robert Oliver and Theresa (Watson) Clarkson. He married Doris Clinefelter, October 27, 1946.
Mr. Clarkson graduated from Forker High School. He was a farmer and had retired from Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked as an engineer. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. He was a member of Laclede United Methodist, American Legion Post #197, Laclede, the Masons, Jackson Lodge #82 AF & AM, Linneus, and Linn County Tractor and Small Engine Club.
Survivors include his wife, Doris, of the home; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Clarkson and Peggy Wilson, Elwood, Ind., Dave and Sandra Clarkson, Laclede, and Randy and Rita Clarkson, and Rock Clarkson and Erin Maloney, Jefferson City; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Steve Lambert, Brookfield; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathry Grkovich, Chicago, Ill., and Edna Mae Farmer, Centralia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Bessie A. Clarkson; one grandson, Alex Clarkson; and two brothers-in-law.
