Lorene Shiflett, 100, Brookfield, formerly of Linneus, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at John Knox Village Care Center, Lee’s Summit.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 18, 2010, Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Sue Lambert officiating. Visitation began at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 1 p.m. until service time.

Mary Lorene was born October 11, 1909, in Shafter, daughter of James and Floy (Phillips) Morris. She married Floyd “Bob” Shiflett, May 12, 1928. He preceded her in death June 19, 1971.
Mrs. Shiflett had worked at Midwest Glove, Chillicothe, and Linn County Infirmary, Linneus. She had also taken care of senior citizens in her home, had been a teacher in a rural school, and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Duane Couch, Raytown; four grandchildren, Todd Shiflett, Mike Couch, Marty Couch and Melinda Harlan; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Crystle Morris, Brookfield.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tom Shiflett; three brothers, Leroy Morris, Glenn Morris, and James Morris; one sister, Letha Wood; and two grandsons, Toby Shiflett and Doug Couch.
