George L. King, 87, Prole, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Winterset, Iowa, with Pastor Dean Coridan and Pastor Jody Dickhaut officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Madison County, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, December 28, 2009, from 2 to 7 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, Iowa, with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the family and will be directed to the Winterset Seventh Day Adventist Church.
George was born October 3, 1922, in Macon County, to Warren and Nettie (Jeanette Elizabeth Dorrell) King, and was raised in the Marceline area. He married Genive Rose Byer on June 13, 1948 at Red Wing, Minn. He pastored the Marceline Seventh Day Adventist Church from 1962 to 1964. He was a U.S. Army WW II veteran.
George is survived by his wife, Genive King, Prole, Iowa; nephews Richard L. King, Marceline, and Larry F. King, McKinney, Texas; a niece Lora Lee Wrestler, Chanute, Kan.; cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Nettie (Dorrell) King; a brother, Lawrence King; a sister, Olive Medlin, a niece, Sylvia Jean Griffin, and a nephew, Home Calvin Medlin.
