Don Ward, 77, Chula, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Lindley Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 6-8 that evening. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe.
Memorials to the Don Ward Vocational Technical Scholarship Fund may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Mo. 64601.
He was born March 6, 1932, in rural Chula, son of William Clarence and Eva Lee (Duff) Ward. He married Eleanor Livingston, August 22, 1954, in Liberty Methodist Church, Chillicothe.
Don was a 1949 graduate of Chillicothe High School and received his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Agricultural Education from the University of Missouri. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves in Trenton. He was a teacher at Chillicothe R-2 School District working at Grand River Technical School from 1968 to 1990. He was also a farmer. He lived all of his life in the Livingston County area. He was a member of the John Deere Two Cylinder Club, National Technical Council, Linn County Missouri Tractor and Engine Club, Chillicothe Bowling Association, and Retired Missouri State Teachers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor, of the home; two sons, Dale Ward and wife, Chillicothe, and Craig Ward and wife, Meadville; three grandchildren; one grandson-in-law; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two infant brothers.
