Lewis D. Finch, 92, Aledo, formerly of Keithsburg, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo. Visitation was from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was in Peniel Cemetery, rural Joy. Online condolences may be left at www.fippingerfuneralhome.com.
He was born July 24, 1918, in Aledo, son of Friend and Minota (Keck) Finch. He married Ella Jean Hadley, February 11, 1941, in Muscatine, Iowa.
Lewis farmed in the Keithsburg area and also owned and operated a trucking and corn shelling business for over 50 years, retiring in 2001 and moving to Aledo. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Geneseo Restoration Branch and Mercer County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carolyn Ranney and husband, and Melody Bawden and husband, Aledo, and Rita (Geno) Woolery, Independence, formerly of Brookfield; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman Finch, Carlsbad, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Roy Geno; and a brother, Gerald Finch.
