Irene Jones Shatford, 99, Brookfield, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2010, at Life Care Center of Brookfield.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 25, 2010, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield, with Rev. Ron Routledge officiating. Visitation began at 9 a.m. today at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 1 p.m. until service time.

Carrie Irene was born February 14, 1911, in Sumner, daughter of Herbert and Perlina (Gibson) Shoemaker. She married Milo B. Jones, July 4, 1933. He preceded her in death November 26, 1964. She then married John Shatford, February 12, 1966. He also preceded her in death in August 1980.
Mrs. Shatford had worked as a telephone operator in Liberty, at Matttingly’s, Brookfield, Purdin Lumber, Purdin, and Banquet Foods, Milan. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Linneus, and Ann of Ava Circle. She also attended First Christian Church, Marceline, and First Christian Church, Brookfield. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Drake, Brookfield, and Judith and Jim Sinay, Grain Valley; three grandchildren, Douglas and wife, Lisa Drake, Ashland, Melissa and husband, Dean Fotopolus, Grain Valley, and Melinda and husband, Mike Sampson, Kansas City; a step-son and his wife, Jack and Joy Shatford, El Dorado Springs; one step-grandson, Kurt Shatford, Raymore; a grand-son-in-law, Tim Harvey, Clarence; six great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Wayne Drake; a granddaughter, Denise Harvey; and a step-daughter, Anita Buster.
