Glenda Gayle (Hunt) Werteen, 64, Princeton, died Thursday, July 28, 2010, at her home.
Her body was cremated under the direction of Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at her home. Her wished were her remains be scattered in fjords of Iceland.
Glenda was born January 21, 1946, in Marceline, daughter of Donald and Vera (Braley) Hunt. She married Arnold Francis Werteen, June 26, 1971.
Glend was raised in Marceline where she graduated from Marceline R-5 High School. She later received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in Kirksville, and began her career in nursing. She and her husband lived in Galt from 1971 until moving in 1986 to Princeton. She worked as the City Clerk of Galt before returning to nursing as an LPN Charge Nurse at Milan Health Care Facility, Princeton Care Center, and Crestview Manor, Bethany. She retired in 2004 due to failing health.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Damon and Melissa Werteen, Marceline, and Morgan and Tamara Werteen, Kansas City; three daughters, Katherine Werteen and LaTisha Werteen, Princeton, and Tonya Houk, Toepka, Kan.; her ex-husband, Arnold Werteen, Princeton; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Donna Hunt; her step-mother, Marjorie Hunt; and her grandmother, Thelma Braley.
