Robert “Bob” Burris, 74, Marceline, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Delaney Funeral Home, Marceline, with Rev. David Gouge and Father Jerry Kaimann officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home with an Odd Fellows service to be held. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Marceline. Pallbearers will be Jack White, Bill Toops, Bob Gladbach, Roy Palmer, Lewis Evans, and Tom Main. Honorary pallbearers will be Ola Floray, Howard Minich, and Dewayne Stanfield.
Memorials to Bethany Baptist Building Fund or Father McCartan School may be left at or mailed to the funeral home at 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, Mo. 64658.
Bob was born February 9, 1935, in Hale, son of Jess R. and Latitia Jane (Padgett) Burris. He married Geraldean Chrisman, June 27, 1976, in Bucklin.
Bob went to school in the Marceline and Bucklin areas and had worked for farmers in the Sumner area before joing the US Marine Corps. He retired from Santa Fe Railway in 1997 as a conductor/engineer. He was a member of UTU, NARVRE, Odd Fellows Lodge of Marceline, and Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldean Burris, of the home in Marceline; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Owen and Sherri Burris, Keytesville, William and Cathy Burris, Orlando, Fla., Herby and Billy Jo Fessler, St. Catharine, and Jerry Fessler, Marceline; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bernilda (Dee) Craig, Salisbury, Teresa and Mark Adams, Monroe City, and Roberta and Phillip Replogle, Mexico; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Tom Varble, Salisbury, and Elizabeth Crouse, Marceline; 13 grandchildren, Jason, Joseph, Zachariah and Blake Burris, Jody and Kelly Dishman, T.J. Adams and Mandy, Amy Gladbach and Johnny, Sara Gordon and Ryan, Barbie Smith and Darren, Jamie Fessler, Toni Fessler, and Brandon and Jacob Adams; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one infant brother, three brothers, and two sisters.
