Such was what happened to me a couple of weeks ago when Mary Alice Carpenter stood at the counter, looking to tell me a story.

        • Marceline Takes First, Second at LCC Meet May. 1, 2013
          Chester Ray Stadium served as the host venue on Monday for the annual Lewis and Clark Conference Relays. The events started at 2 p.m. on an absolutely wonderful afternoon for a track meet. At the events, the Tigers took first with 125 points, and the Lady Tigers took second with 135 points.
          Morgan McCormick readies for the 100m hurdles.  McCormick continued her hurdles dominance winning both the 100m and 300m hurdles events at the Lewis and Clark Conference meet.

          The annual day-long Brookfield Relays took place on Friday at the (soon-to-be-named) Richard (Dick) Cochran Track Facility at Brookfield High School. The event was broken up into large (blue) and small (white) school divisions, and featured 20 total teams.

          At last week’s Marceline R-5 Board of Education meeting, the Board unanimously hired John Kruse to replace Kent O’Laughlin as Head Coach of the Marceline Tigers Varsity basketball team. Kruse is in his first year with the District, and brings excitement and experience to the team he can now call his own.

          Kiera Holcer of Meadville, Missouri participated in the Elks National Hoop Shoot Finals in Springfield, Massachusetts on April 20, 2013. Kiera competed against free throw shooters from Wisconsin, New York, South Dakota, Kansas, Michigan, West Virginia, Washington, Maine, Georgia, California and Texas.
