Marceline Earns Team and Individual Medals

A standout Marceline basketball player is continuing her career.

It is not often that we here at the LCL venture outside of our coverage area in Linn County. But when a good story walks in the front door of the office, you just can’t say no. Such was what happened to me a couple of weeks ago when Mary Alice Carpenter stood at the counter, looking to tell me a story.

A signing was held at Tiger Fieldhouse yesterday morning for Madison McCormick to continue her career as a student-athlete in softball at William Woods University. Madison is a multi-time All-Conference, and All-District player for the Lady Tigers in her career at Marceline High School. Chester Ray Stadium served as the host venue on Monday for the annual Lewis and Clark Conference Relays. The events started at 2 p.m. on an absolutely wonderful afternoon for a track meet. At the events, the Tigers took first with 125 points, and the Lady Tigers took second with 135 points.

Alden Talks Walsworth’s $8.3 Million Donation

The annual day-long Brookfield Relays took place on Friday at the (soon-to-be-named) Richard (Dick) Cochran Track Facility at Brookfield High School. The event was broken up into large (blue) and small (white) school divisions, and featured 20 total teams.

At last week’s Marceline R-5 Board of Education meeting, the Board unanimously hired John Kruse to replace Kent O’Laughlin as Head Coach of the Marceline Tigers Varsity basketball team. Kruse is in his first year with the District, and brings excitement and experience to the team he can now call his own.
