The Graff-Pepsi men’s softball team traveled to Kansas City recently for another tournament and came home 0-3 with a pair of close losses at the event.
The team lost both of their pool play games, with a 5-4 loss to the Topeka Wave, and an 8-2 loss against Kansas City Piper. On the second day, the team lost a 2-1 elimination game against the Topeka Toros.
The rainy weekend only delayed the ending of the 60th annual 12 and under baseball tournament in Brookfield held at Rusk Park, and sponsored by the Brookfield Parks and Rec. Department. The results of the Friday and Saturday games are below.
The Graff-Pepsi Softball team took to the road last weekend and played in a tournament in Kansas City. The team went 3-1 for the weekend, winning through their pool play round, and one game of the tournament round.
Last weekend was the annual Pepsi Tournament held at the Brookfield Country Club. While the first flight was shortened due to inclement weather conditions, the event went on mostly unhindered by precipitation.
The Marceline Lady Tigers, under the guidance of Head Coach Todd Lowther, are taking part in a summer softball league in Kirksville this summer. Here are the results of their first two games.
A Cal Ripken baseball game between the Marceline team coached by Eric Passig and Weydert Insurance of Brookfield was played in Marceline on May 28. The result was a shutout win for the Marceline team.
The school year may be over, but the Brookfield Booster Club and the Spring Sports coaches recently honored the track, boys golf, and academic bowl teams. The parents barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs and the meal, as always, was great.
That’s right, football season has begun. Brookfield Head Football Coach Nile Thudium and Marceline Head Football Coach Shane Cavanah have held their first camps with their teams in preparation for the upcoming football season. These two camps wrap up tonight at the teams respective practice fields.
The long memorial Day weekend was not really a rest-filled time for the area’s athletes who competed at State Track. These athletes traveled to Jefferson City, where they competed over two days, and walked away with medals in 12 different events over two classes.
Two-time State champion Austin Evans signed his letter of intent to attend the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg and continue his wrestling career.
The Marceline boys golf team had a good showing for itself at the recent State Golf Tournament with all three competitors finishing in the top 25 at the event.
