The Brookfield Lady Dogs JV and Varsity softball teams traveled to Macon last night and came home with a pair of Clarence Cannon Conference wins.
 

The Marceline Lady Tigers JV and Varsity softball teams did battle with Milan at Lion’s Field last night, dodging the rain storms that have soaked the area.  The JV was shut out 7-0, but the Varsity won in the nightcap.

The Brookfield Lady Dogs softball team took part in the annual Monroe City Tournament on Saturday, a tournament that meant all that much more now that the hosts were also a Conference opponent.  Brookfield played hard through three games, and took second place overall at the event.

The Marceline Lady Tigers showed true heart and determination by bouncing back after a loss to Putnam at home last week and heading to the Brunswick Tournament on Saturday.  The resilient Lady Tigers won the tournament, allowing only six runs in the entire event.

The Brookfield Bulldogs opened their 2010 season Friday night with a win against Clarence Cannon Conference opponent Mark Twain at Burlington Field.  The Dogs moved the ball well through the air, as well as on the ground.  This balanced attack earned Brookfield a 24-0 win to start the season off on the right foot.

The Marceline Tigers started their 2010 season on Friday night with a new tradition of entering through the Centennial Gateway, and touching the Tigers that calls that area its home.  This was also the first official game for new Head Coach Paul Thomas at MHS.  The new tradition started well, as Marceline downed Schuyler County 32-18 to the approval of the home crowd at Chester Ray Stadium.

The Brookfield Lady Dogs golf team won their first home meet last night against Moberly at Brookfield Country Club.  Both teams had Varsity and JV squads, and Brookfield won both games handily.

The Brookfield Lady Dogs softball season may not have started off how they liked it with a loss to Schuyler County on the road.  But the familiar confines of Rusk Park, as well as the support of the home crowd, lifted Brookfield to a big win in their first home and Clarence Cannon Conference contest of the season.

The Marceline Lady Tigers were at home for the second time this week.  The result this time, sadly, was different for the girls in black and gold.

The Meadville Eagles and Lady Eagles softball teams opened their seasons last night against Hale in a CLAA Conference battle.

The Brookfield Lady Dogs golf team opened their 2010 campaign with a trip to Riverside Country Club in Trenton on Monday night.  Things did not go so well for the Lady Dogs against a Trenton team that returns three players from last season’s Class One fourth place team.

Last night at Rusk Park the first official shots of the 2010 Highway 36 Rivalry were fired, as the Brookfield Lady Dogs hosted the Marceline Lady Tigers in a JV softball doubleheader.  The home team swept both games, in what was a learning experience for the future stars of our local softball diamonds.
 

Monday night at Lions Field was the opening game of the 2010 softball season for the Marceline Lady Tigers.  Despite a slow start offensively from the home team, the Marceline girls showed a lot of heart and took their first game in extra-innings.

The Brookfield Lady Dogs varsity softball team got off to a rocky start Monday night against the Schuyler County Lady Rams.  Errors in the field cost the team dearly, as they lost their opening contest of the season 9-6.

This week marks the official kickoff of the 2010 football season.  For the Marceline Tigers, the season begins against the Schuyler County Rams of the Tri-Rivers Conference.  The Tigers dominated the Rams to open last season on the road, and hope to be able to achieve the same success this year.

This week marks the first official game of the high school football season for the Brookfield Bulldogs.  It may have been tempting to schedule a cupcake at home for the Dogs, but Brookfield jumps head first into the Clarence Cannon Conference in week one as they host Mark Twain at Burlington Field this Friday at 7 p.m.
