Kyle Clark and the Grain Valley baseball team had little problem using wood bats Friday.

Clark pounded out four hits to help lead the Eagles to an 8-3 victory over Eldon in the first game of the Boonville Pirates Wood Bat Tournament.

Clark finished 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI as the Eagles improved to 12-3 overall.

Austin Foster (2-0) went five innings for the win and Dalton Forge finished up.

The Eagles meet host Boonville at 11 a.m. and Centralia at 1 p.m. Saturday to finish the round-robin event.

KEARNEY 4, FORT OSAGE 3: Spencer’s Patrick’s three-run home run wasn’t enough for the Fort Osage baseball team Thursday.

Spencer hit a three-run blast in the top of the sixth inning to give the Indians a 3-1 lead but host Kearney rallied for two runs in the seventh to tie it and won the Northland Tournament consolation game with a run in the bottom of the eighth.

The loss wasted a strong outing by Fort Osage starter Zane Barr. He allowed just five hits, two walks and one run while striking out 11 in six innings. Barr also went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored a run.

Von Young and Sage Heitman each added two hits for the Indians, who dropped to 6-8 overall.

OAK GROVE 10, LAFAYETTE COUNTY 0: Ben Hipsher slugged a home run and a double and drove in five runs to lead Oak Grove to a rout of host Lafayette County Friday in Higginsville.

Devon Hudson added a solo homer and starter Garrison Walton allowed four hits and struck our four in four innings for the win as the Panthers improved to 8-7 overall with the non-conference victory.
