Truman goalkeeper Jessica Curtis made sure St. Joseph Central didn’t record a goal in regulation and overtime.
She was just as stingy in the penalty kick shootout. The Patriots outscored the host Indians 3-0 in the shootout to claim a 1-0 win in the regular-season and Suburban Big Six finale Thursday in St. Joseph.
Curtis stopped two of Central’s PKs, while Charley Burton, Bailey Toczek and Samantha Feaker converted for the Patriots.
The Patriots improved to 8-9 overall and finished 5-5 in the Suburban Big Six. Truman meets Noland Road rival William Chrisman in a Class 4 District 14 semifinal at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Teresa’s Academy.
FORT OSAGE 6, RUSKIN 0: Fort Osage spread the scoring around in a home shutout win over Ruskin Thursday.
Seniors Kelsi Schaberg, Lexi Eager and Fah Wanner each scored goals, as did Rachel Newberry, Sophia Smith and Ally Young.
"It was a night where we celebrated our seniors and their accomplishments over the last four years,” said Indians coach Andrew Fletcher, who is leaving Fort Osage following the season. “I was happy that they got to play and that Lexi and Fah got to score their first ever varsity goals.”
The Indians finished the regular season 14-5 overall and finished second in the Suburban Middle Six conference race at 7-3. They meet top-seeded Lee’s Summit North at 5 p.m. Tuesday at North in Class 4 District 13 action.
The Fort Osage junior varsity won 6-0.
