Some said it would probably take another season or two until a roster devoid of seniors had some leadership, but the day has come: the Brookfield volleyball program picked up the first varsity win in its history on the road at South Harrison on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs won in straight sets, 26-24, 25-7.

"The girls did a great job communicating," Brookfield coach Amy Dixon said. "They played as a team, helping each other and were at the right place at the right time. For both sets, our serves were really good."

Kate Ewing served 11-of-12 with three aces, Jenna Menconi posted a pair of aces, and Grace Hasty and Nicki Herrington both recorded one as well.
