Brookfield's middle school football teams have closed up their seasons this week. The seventh grade side finished the season winless at 0-5 after falling to Cameron on Oct. 3, 50-14.
"It's a tough way to end a tough season," coach Tim Thomason said. "I just could never find the right button to push with this group of boys and I feel very disappointed that I was not able to help them find more success this year. Hopefully they will work hard in other sports throughout the school year to continue to develop a even more competitive spirit that they can carry over into next fall and onto the football field. We were just dominated physically this year and will need to figure out how to meet that intensity."
The eighth grade side, however, finished its season 5-0-1 after a 0-0 tie in the Tinkerbell game against undefeated Marceline on Tuesday.
The game prior, Brookfield defeated Cameron 6-0.
"This was as tough of a game as the final score indicates," Thomason said. "The Cameron team had never lost a football game since they began playing in 3rd grade, and had beat us by three touchdowns last season. This was one we had prepared for throughout the entire season and were determined to give them our best shot. I'm very proud of this team and their daily effort they give our program."
