Though the Brookfield girls' basketball team was able to pick things up after a slow, four-point first quarter in the third-place game of the Husker Classic in Higginsville on Saturday afternoon, the Bulldogs fell to Oak Grove, 61-51.
Brookfield scored a respective 15, 20, and 17 in the final three quarters, but Oak Grove was able to maintain a similar pace en route to knocking the Bulldogs to 3-4 on the season.
Brookfield's Rylee Sensenich led all scorers with 21 points, and Cassi Conard was right on her tail with 19. Kaylie Stufflebean finished the afternoon with 13 points.
Oak Grove also had three scorers finish in double figures.
"We may have played our best defensive quarter of the season in the first quarter," first-year Bulldog coach Tony Fairchild said. "We still need to work on our team fundamentals."
Brookfield travels to face Louisiana on Friday.
