A slow first half benefitted the Marceline boys' basketball team on Friday night as they defeated Westran in a rout.
With the 53-30 victory, Marceline improves to 7-12 and snaps what was a five-game skid. Marceline now sits at fourth place in the Lewis & Clark conference with a 3-2 mark, and Westran falls to 2-3 and 6-13 on the season.
Marceline held Westran to just three points in the second quarter, and took a 13-point lead into the halftime break. The game was slow and methodical for much of the first half, including Westran having a possession that lasted 63 seconds with no offensive rebounds.
Three scorers accounted for all of Marceline's points aside from three buckets. Lance Gladbach and Trey Davis both finished the game with 16 points, and Levi Terrell was not far behind them with 15.
By the time of this publication, the Tigers will have hosted Brookfield, and they then finish their season with three consecutive road games. Marceline travels to Salisbury on Tuesday, Fayette on Friday, and Knox County next week.
The district tournament begins on February 19 in Schuyler County.
