The Marceline Tigers' golf team ravaged the field on Monday in the Class 1 District 7 meet in Kirksville, finishing 48 strokes better than runner-up Clopton.
The Tigers shot a 365-stroke round at Kirksville Country Club, and will travel as a team to Maryville on Monday for the sectional meet. Each Marceline golfer, however, would have qualified as an individual in the 32-man field.
"The boys played in some tough conditions and it was a battle," Marceline coach Tim Jordan said. "I think Kirksville is the toughest course we play all year and they stuck it out to win a district title."
Conference champion Trey Hamilton also became district champion with a round of 13 strokes over par, seven strokes better than teammate and second-place finisher Rylan Chrisman. Seth Cupp shot 22 over to finish fourth, and Cullen Bruner's +26 round earned him fifth.
Colby Sims shot 31 over to finish in a tie for 12th place.
La Plata, the official host of Monday's meet, finished in third place just nine strokes back from Clopton with a round of 422. Schuyler County finished fourth at 436 strokes, Scotland County shot a 445 to finish fifth, and Princeton brought up the rear with a score of 510.
"I'm super proud of them, and hopefully we can keep this momentum going into sectionals," Jordan said.
