Although the Brookfield volleyball team fell at home in its season opener on Monday night, head coach Amy Dixon like what she saw from her girls.
The Bulldogs fell in straight sets to Hallsville (25-12, 25-18), but kept the second set close until the bitter end.
"I feel that they took a big step from the first day of practice," Dixon said. "I was very proud of how they played. We can only go up from here."
Hallsville is coming off of a season above the .500 mark at 12-10-2.
Brookfield begins a three-week long road stretch by traveling to Centralia on Thursday. The Bulldogs, which lost no seniors from last season, are seeking their second win in the program's five-year history.
