Last weekend was the annual Brookfield Wrestling Invitational held all day long at Brookfield High School. Both the hosting Bulldogs and the visiting Marceline Tigers were among the many teams taking part in this event.
At 103 pounds, Marceline was represented by Matthew Smith in Pool A, and Tucker Dunham in Pool B. Smith took third in his pool, while Dunham took third in his. Smith went 3-0 on the day, scoring pinfalls in all of his bouts. Dunham went 2-2 with a pinfall win and a major decision.
At 112 pounds, Brookfield was represented by Lucas Noble, while Marceline was represented by Tyler Hamilton. Hamilton took first in the Pool for the Tigers, while Noble placed third for the Dogs. Noble went 3-2, with a technical fall and a pair of pinfalls. Hamilton went an unbeaten 5-0 with a multitude of pinfall wins.
In Pool A at 119 pounds, Marceline was represented by Kyle Bell, while Brookfield sent Micah Blakely to the mats. Marceline also had Keith Elkins wrestling in Pool B. Blakely took third in Pool A, while Elkins took third in Pool B. Blakely went 3-2 with a pinfall. Bell went 1-4, and Elkins went 1-2.
At 125 pounds, Brookfield’s Ramzie Cooper took second place, while Marceline’s Austin Moudy did not place. Moudy went 1-4 on the day, while Cooper went 4-1, with two pinfalls and a major decision.
Aaron Coram took to the mats for Brookfield at 130 pounds and earned third place. Coram went 3-2 on the day.
Jordan Orr was the undefeated champion at 135 pounds, going 5-0 with three pins and a major decision.
Nick Cordray took second place in Pool A at 140 pounds for Marceline, while Maverick Spencer took second in Pool B for Brookfield. Cordray went 2-1 with a pin and a major, Spencer went 3-2 with a pinfall.
Gary Lindsay went undefeated in Pool A at 145 pounds, going 5-0 for Brookfield with three technical falls and a pinfall. Jeremiah Domon wrestled for the Dogs in Pool B, going winless on the day.
Austin Lindsay went 3-0 with three pinfalls to win Pool A at 153 pounds. Austin won two of his bouts by pinfall.
