The Graff-Pepsi Softball team took to the road last weekend and played in a tournament in Kansas City.  The team went 3-1 for the weekend, winning through their pool play round, and one game of the tournament round.

The first game of pool play saw Graff-Pepsi take on Kansas Mobil and eke out a 2-1 time limit win in five innings.  Brandon Monsanto went 1-3 with a single and a run scored.  Todd Lowther went 1-2 with a walk, a double, an RBI, and a run scored.  Dwight Ipock went 1-3 with a double and an RBI.  Aaron Bruton went 0-1 with a walk.  Kevin Rohlfs went 1-2 with a single.  Mark Monsanto went 1-1 with  a double and a fielder’s choice.  Rohlfs was the winning pitcher in this game, with five innings pitched, seven strikeouts, one walk, three hits allowed, and one earned run.

In the second game of pool play, things got a little wacky and Graff-Pepsi won this contest when the opposing team had too few players to go on due to ejections.  The game ended with an 11-5 score in the seventh inning.  Brandon Monsanto went 3-6 with two runs scored.  Lowther went 2-4 with two RBI’s and two runs scored.  Ipock went 1-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.  Todd Bennett went 4-4 with two RBI’s, and three runs scored.  Bruton went 3-4 with a run scored.  Rohlfs went 3-4 with three RBI’s.  Mark Monsanto went 1-5.  King Owens went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI.  Dick Heine was the starting pitcher and went four innings, racking up four strikeouts, and allowing five runs.  Rohlfs came on in relief for two innings, picking up the win, and allowing only three hits.
