The Linn County Mustangs and Lady Mustangs are in a great position for success right now. The teams are playing host to their own District Basketball tournaments, and have a home court advantage no matter what the scoreboard says. The teams opened District play last night with games against Green City.
The Lady Mustangs took it to Green City early and often, winning this game 46-38. Meagan Nickell had 24 points, Jessica Hayes had seven, Kassandra Harrington had six, Shelby Russell had three, and the trifecta of Ariel Rinehart, Skylar Gray, and Sam Klinger had two each.
The Mustangs also took on Green City, and also controlled the game from the opening tip, winning 62-50. Shane Rardon had 18 points to lead scoring, Devon O’Kane had 13, Jon Hostetter had 12, Brandon Montgomery had nine, Jeremiah Waltz had eight, and Jarrett Alexander had two.
Both Linn County teams will take on Meadville tonight at the Eldon Tietsort Gymnasium in Purdin. The games are scheduled to start at 6 and 7:30 p.m. respectively.
