This week marks the first official game of the high school football season for the Brookfield Bulldogs. It may have been tempting to schedule a cupcake at home for the Dogs, but Brookfield jumps head first into the Clarence Cannon Conference in week one as they host Mark Twain at Burlington Field this Friday at 7 p.m.
“Our first game of the season and the first game in the Clarence Cannon Conference will offer us a tremendous test,”explains Head Coach Nile Thudium. “Mark Twain returns eight starters on both sides of the ball from a team that went to the playoffs last season. They will be very big and physical.”
Mark Twain will expect to use their size as an advantage with a ground-and-pound style of football. “They like to use double tight end/split back sets, as well as the power I formations on offense,” noted Coach Thudium. “Playing this caliber of opponent week in and week out should only make us better by the end of the season.”
