The Brookfield Lady Dogs varsity softball team got off to a rocky start Monday night against the Schuyler County Lady Rams. Errors in the field cost the team dearly, as they lost their opening contest of the season 9-6.
“The mistakes we made were all physical, not mental,” said Head Coach Mickey Beach. “These are things that we can fix in practice.”
Paige Drescher was the starting pitcher, and allowed 10 hits, nine runs, four earned runs, struck out six, and walked one.
At the plate: Drescher went 1-4; Kelsie Frey had a sacrifice; Abby York went 2-4 with a home run and an RBI; Katee Booth went 1-4 with a double and an RBI; Ashlyn Cupp went 2-4 with a double and an RBI; Sammi Overton went 1-3 with two RBI’s; and Cassady Sisson went 1-3.
The Lady Dogs open Clarence Cannon Conference play at home this Thursday against South Shelby.
