The Brookfield Lady Dogs softball team took part in the annual Monroe City Tournament on Saturday, a tournament that meant all that much more now that the hosts were also a Conference opponent. Brookfield played hard through three games, and took second place overall at the event.
In the first game, the Lady Dogs did battle with North Shelby. Brookfield trailed 1-0 after four innings, but rallied in the fifth and sixth innings to win this contest 9-1.
Paige Drescher went 1-4 with a single, Kelsie Frey went 2-4 with an RBI, Abby York went 3-3 with a double, Katee Booth went 1-4 with a double, Ashlyn Cupp went 1-4 with two RBI’s, Sammi Overton went 2-3 with a pair of singles, McKenzie Roberts went 1-3 with two RBI’s, and Cassady Sisson went 1-1 with an RBI.
The second game saw the Lady Dogs take on the hosting team from Monroe City. The teams traded scores early, but Brookfield took this high-scoring event by a final score of 11-7.
Drescher went 1-4 with a single, Frey went 3-4 with three singles, York had a sacrifice and an RBI, Booth went 1-2 with an RBI and a walk, Cupp went 3-4 with an RBI, Overton went 2-4 with an RBI, Roberts went 2-4 with a pair of doubles, Sisson went 1-3 with a single, Ashley Kearns went with a double and an RBI.
