The District Basketball Tournament has begun for area teams, and the Marceline Tigers and Lady Tigers took off on the long drive to Memphis for their chance at the State Championships, happening later this month in Columbia.  The games from here on out are win or go home, and sadly, this is what happened to the Lady Tigers.  The Tigers won over Cairo to earn a second round game.
The Lady Tigers took the floor first, and took on Scotland County.  This game was a battle of the Lady Tigers, with a team of blue and white Lady Tigers taking on the local black and gold Lady Tigers.
Scotland scored first at the 6:46 mark, and this was answered by a three-pointer from Lauren Ewigman.  Lauren contributed seven of the nine Marceline points in the first quarter, and until the end of the frame was the only Marceline player in the scorebook.  A pair of free throws at the buzzer by Kendra Gladbach made the score 13-9 with Marceline trailing.
