Today I turn 31 years old. To be fair, I must also give a birthday shout-out to my mother who turns 49 today. In an ironic twist of fate, I was my mother’s 18th birthday present, born to her on the afternoon of March 10, 1979. With another year under my belt, I have to ask myself if I am any wiser for my time on the planet.
It has been a busy 30th year of life for me, but that is normal for someone in my business. I have assumed new responsibilities at the LCL, helped guide us all through the November redesign, watched the Marceline football team make a great playoff run, watched the Brookfield Lady Dogs historic efforts unfold, and watched as my two dominant wrestling teams cleaned up at State Wrestling.
Personally, I have been trying to make sure to remain introspective and seek personal improvement if at all possible. I am not sure if I have achieved this, but some of the folks around me assure me that I have done a lot of “growing up” recently.
This concept of “growing up” is the thing that intrigues me in my recent thoughts. I was sure I had grown up a long time ago. But upon my famous introspection, I realize that the process is something that the person going through does not get to be the judge of. So, all in all, I am left unsure of my apparent newfound maturity.
Am I wiser than I was a year ago? I can certainly say that my knowledge of my industry has increased exponentially. To those of you that follow my Facebook page, I tend to update that medium with where I will be, and you have seen the training sessions I attended.
