Keytesville, Mo. -

The Marceline Tigers and Lady Tigers played the final two games of the Keytesville Tournament late last week.  The teams both lost their second round games and played for third.  The Lady Tigers pulled out a nice win, while the Tigers lost their game.
On January 25, the Lady Tigers took on New Franklin.  “We were intimidated at first,” said Head Coach Kirsten Smith.  “But, the girls battled back hard.  This was a closer game than the score indicates.”
Marceline trailed all game long, losing 51-32.  Kendra Gladbach had 10 points and six boards.  Maggie Robinson had nine points, and Lauren Ewigman had seven boards.  “We are a young team still trying to adjust to varsity play,” admitted Coach Smith.  “We were able to keep a very talented New Franklin team on the ropes for most of the night.  My girls are gaining experience and confidence needed to succeed at this level and are becoming a force to be reckoned with in the future.”
The Tigers took on Salisbury in the second round.  These two teams are Conference rivals and played close in their previous meeting this season.  Marceline led early on, but trailed at the half by seven.  The deficit grew to double digits in the third quarter, but the Tigers battled hard to cut it in half in the final frame.
