The Marceline Lady Tigers showed true heart and determination by bouncing back after a loss to Putnam at home last week and heading to the Brunswick Tournament on Saturday. The resilient Lady Tigers won the tournament, allowing only six runs in the entire event.
The first game saw Marceline spar with Glasgow, a long time rival from the basketball court. Glasgow scored one run in the third inning, but the Lady Tigers took this game be a final score of 9-1.
Morgan McCormick went 2-4 with a double and a stolen base; Abby Gauthier went 1-4 with a stolen base; Natalie Wheeler went 1-3 with a double and two stolen bases; Madison McCormick went 1-3 with a stolen base; Lauren Ewigman went 1-3 with a single; Alyson Ewigman had a stolen base; Brittany Wright had a stolen base; Kallie Hilsabeck went 2-2 with a stolen base; Taylor Enyeart walked.
The second game of the event meant a battle with Sturgeon. Marceline allowed a run in the second inning but dominated this contest as well, winning 6-1.
Morgan McCormick went 1-3 with a walk; Gauthier went 2-4 with a stolen base; Wheeler had a sacrifice; Madison McCormick went 2-4 with a pair of singles; Lauren Ewigman went 1-3 with a single; Alyson Ewigman went 3-3 with four stolen bases; Hilsabeck reached on a Fielder’s Choice; Cierra Nelson went 1-3 with a single.
