Lady Dogs Win Three in a Row

The Brookfield Bulldogs and Lady Dogs have had a series of games recently, taking on Milan last Friday night, Centralia Monday night, and Putnam County last night.  The Lady Dogs swept all three of these games to go above .500 for the season.
At Milan, the teams split the contests, with the Lady Dogs winning from behind, and the Dogs losing after an early lead.
In the girls game, the Lady Dogs fell behind early, trailing by three points after one quarter 14-11.  Quinsie Gall led scoring with seven points.  At the half, the deficit grew to seven points, 27-20.  Shelby Lane had four points to lead scoring in the second quarter.  In the third quarter, Brookfield rallied back to cut their deficit to five points, 39-34.  Alyssa Elson had four points in the frame.  In the end, the Lady Dogs circled the wagons, and came back to win the game 62-53.
Quinsie Gall led scoring overall with 17 points, Alyssa Elson added 15 points, Abby York had nine points, Shelby Lane had seven points, Tiffany White had six points, Kelli Black had four points, and Amanda Slater and Vanessa Shaw both had two.
In the boys game, the Dogs ran into the double whammy of a low shooting percentage (33 percent), and a high number of turnovers (26).
Brookfield led early by four points, 15-11 after one quarter.  Andrew Baum had 11 points to lead scoring in the first quarter.  But, Milan mounted their own comeback, and tied the game 19-19 at the half.  Baum and Blake Burns both had two points in the second quarter.  Milan took the lead in the third quarter, 38-32.  Levi Henderson led scoring with five points.  In the end, Brookfield lost this game 62-50.
Andrew Baum led scoring for the Dogs with 21 points, Ethan Harmon added seven, Blake Williams and Matt O’Toole had six each, Levi Henderson had five, and Blake Burns had four.
