Prosecutor looks back on 2021

The role of the prosecutor is to ethically charge, prosecute and defend cases referred to the office. These cases come from many different agencies. Each agency is a valued member of the team tasked with keeping our communities safe. The Linn County Prosecuting Attorney is honored to work with multiple departments who exemplify pro-active and communityoriented policing. They are the epitome of the blue line – those officers who will honestly and truthfully stand for the safety and security of our communities and residents. Gerald Payne

BUCKLIN - Gerald Lee Payne, age 74 of Bucklin, died Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City. Gerald was born in Mussel Fork, Missouri on November 22, 1947 to John Bills and Viola (Bettis) Payne. He married Donna Whisenand on September 16, 1972 at Bucklin.

What is a derecho?

Multiple tornadoes and thunderstorms that struck the Great Plains and upper Midwest on Dec. 15 were the result of a rare event called a derecho, according to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center. It was the first on record in December in the United States.
