Whiteman Air Force Base has canceled the Wings Over Whiteman Air and Space Show, tentatively scheduled for June 2022. A press release says base officials canceled the event due to competing mission priorities.

Contract Awarded To Build The Little Otter Creek Reservoir
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Missouri and County Commissioners of Caldwell County, announced on Dec. 7, an award of a $14,400,486.75 contract to Phillips Hardy, Incorporated of Booneville, to construct the Little Otter Creek Reservoir. The contract award was made through a competitive bid process following years of planning and preparation. Under the contract, a 345-acre reservoir will supply 1.24 million gallons of raw drinking water per day, reduce flooding along Little Otter Creek, and provide recreation for area residents and visitors.

Spencer wins Legion District Oratorical
Ayden Spencer, a Junior at Mendon Northwest R-1 School, won the Missouri American Legion District Two Oratorical contest. The District Two Contest was held Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Chillicothe Veterans Building. Spencer presented a speech, with no notes, on the United States Constitution and then an impromptu three-to-five-minute speech on the Eighth Amendment. January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, marking the anniversary of the passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000.
