Staff Shortages At State Hospitals Causing ‘A Workforce Crisis’

JEFFERSON CITY — Hundreds of inmates in county jails throughout Missouri are awaiting inpatient psychiatric care but can’t receive it due to severe staff shortages at state hospitals. “We are truly struggling with a workforce crisis,” Valerie Huhn, director of the Department of Mental Health, told state representatives at a hearing last week.

Computer Basics Community Education Course Available Through NCMC

A new community education course at North Central Missouri College (NCMC) is now enrolling participants for Computer Basics for the Mature Learner. This non-credit course is open to members of the public, and enrollees do not need to be NCMC students. Computer Basics for the Mature Learner will be on Mondays from 6-8 p.m. on Feb. 28, March 7, March 14 and March 21 on the NCMC Main Campus in Hoffman Hall 101 in Trenton.
