Birding workshop March 14

A free Birding Workshop and hike will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m., on March 14 at Wallace State near Cameron. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is hosting the free program with MDC conservation educator Adam Bransgaard will lead the hike and discuss bird species commonly spotted in winter, what natural habitats attract birds, and how to identify birds. Winter is a good time for birding, since the lack of foliage makes spotting them easier.

MDC Reminder That Catch-And-Keep Trout Season Starts March 1 At Trout Parks

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- March 1 marks the annual opening of catch-and-keep trout fishing in Missouri at the state’s four trout parks: Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Montauk State Park near Licking, Roaring River State Park near Cassville, and Maramec Spring Park near St. James. The catch-and-keep season at the trout parks runs through Oct. 31.

Missouri Automotive Lubricant Company Agrees To Pay Penalty For Alleged Environmental Law Violations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will collect a $130,243 penalty from Champion Brands LLC, a producer and seller of automotive lubricants, to resolve alleged violations of the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. According to EPA, the company failed to submit required annual reports listing releases of toxic chemicals at the company’s facility in Clinton, Missouri.

Halls Of Brookfield Funded

Late last year, it was announced that the Halls of Brookfield Senior Apartments project was funded. The $10 million project includes a three-story facility “Halls of Brookfield”, for seniors 55 and over. There will be 40 apartments that will rent from $265-$685 a month. This approval came after the city had applied for the three-story housing unit.
