University Of Missouri Extension FCS Professionals Help Area Residents To “Live Well”

Health is a lot more than how one looks and feels. Conversations about health should include all eight dimensions or areas of wellness—that is mental, social, emotional, spiritual, financial, occupational, environmental, and intellectual. That’s the focus of Living Well Month, a national event in March promoting overall wellness and the education provided by Family and Consumer Sciences professionals to improve the lives of people, families, and communities.

Soil Testing Is A Valuable Tool

Nutrient deficiencies negatively affect plants’ ability to perform at peak level. Having soil analyzed for nutrients is the only way to know what is readily available for the growing plants. Applying too much fertilizer or lime can also have a negative effect on plant growth. Excessive fertilizer is not only a waste of money, excessive nutrients can have a detrimental effect on the environment if they runoff into surface water or leach through the soil profile into groundwater.

Monthly Reports On CARES Act funding

The latest monthly reports from State Auditor Nicole Galloway detailing state government’s use of federal stimulus dollars intended for the COVID-19 response shows Missouri has received more than $5.41 billion since April 2020. As the state’s financial watchdog, the State Auditor’s Office has issued the reports since June 2020 examining Missouri government’s distribution and spending of funding received under the CARES Act and other federal assistance programs passed by Congress.
