LCACTC Students Earn CDA

The following Linn County Area Career and Technical Center students Early Childhood Professional students who have earned their CDA (Child Development Associate Credential). Veronica Vaughn, Lexi Montgomery and Marissa Woodard have recently taken their CDA exam and completed a professional observation and portfolio. They are all teachers at Hand In Hand Lab School.

LCACTC Skills USA Students Place

Linn County Area Technical Center SkillsUSA members recently attended the State Leadership contest. Those who placed at the state leadership conference, include: Lizabeth Vargas - 1st place Leadership Essay; Rylan Head - 2nd place Health Occupational Portfolio; Sam Lee - 3rd place Health Occupational Portfolio; Brooke Falconer, Lani Arnold, Scarlet Polson and Mallory McCabe - 3rd place Health Knowledge Bowl.

Fire Leads To Death

On Friday night at about 6:15 p.m., the Chillicothe Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 1015 Polk St. with possible entrapment, according to a press release from Chilicothe Frie Chief Eric Reeter.

Honey Bee Swarm Season!

Spring is just around the corner. Flowers will be blooming, and a sweet fragrance will be in the air! Missouri honey bees will smell those flowers and be in the air, too. On occasion, you will see a cloud of bees in the air or clumped together on a branch. That is a healthy swarm of honey bees moving on to a new home.

Youth Group’s Work Brightens Park

On Sunday the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Youth Group spent the day working in Tormey Park, picking up sticks, raking, loading several pick up loads of brush to haul off. According to Nancy Saccaro, Tormey Park is named after Father Walter Tormey who was a parish priest at the Catholic Church in Brookfield back in the 1920s. He donated the land to the City of Brookfield for a park.
