169 Law Enforcement Agencies Cleared Backlog Of Kits, 3 Prosecutions Underway

In a major milestone, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced at a press conference that the Attorney General’s Office has worked with 169 law enforcement agencies to clear their backlogs of untested, report sexual assault kits. In total, 3,298 untested, reported kits have been sent to the lab to be tested. Further, because of the work of the SAFE Kit Initiative State Coordinator Judge M. Keithley Williams and her team, there are currently three active prosecutions that are a direct result of CODIS hits from kits that were tested through the SAFE Kit Initiative.

Student of the Week

Recently, Jada Taylor and Dane Phillips were named Marceline Middle and High School Students of the Week. Taylor’s activities include golf, FFA, marching band, Drama Club, and FBLA. In her spare time she enjoys showing her dog, Finn, in 4-H and spending time with friends and family. Phillips’ activities include football, wrestling, baseball, and golf. In his spare time he enjoys being at the lake doing water sports and spending time with friends and family.
