Issac Allen of the Marceline FFA Chapter places third in the creed speaking leadership development event at the 94th Missouri FFA Convention. Sixteen students from six districts were selected to compete at the state level. The Marceline FFA advisor is Bailey Henry.
On April 23 the Marceline Fire sponsored a “Grain Engulfment Rescue” class. Personnel attended from Marceline Fire, Brookfield Fire, Bynumville Fire, Linneus Fire, Mendon Fire and Linn Central Dispatch. This class taught the proper procedures to remove a person trapped inside a grain bin and was made possible from a Grant written by Marceline Firefighter Brian Mosier awarded by MFA Inc.
The Missouri FFA Association awarded Bucklin FFA Chapter a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award. Bucklin placed 16th out of 353 chapters. Only 10% of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year. The Bucklin FFA advisor is Valerie Montgomery. The top chapters compete for the National FFA Chapter Award. Winners will be announced this fall at the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis. This award is sponsored by FCS Financial.
Ongoing • Sewing Class at the Brookfield YMCA. Free sewing class on Mondays and Thursdays at 10 a.m.
There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 – 12:00, except on holidays.
Recently, Isa Lile and Elisabeth Harder were named Marceline Middle and High School Students of the Week. Lile's activities include Cheerleading and SADD. She enjoys going and walks and spending time with friends and family. Harder's activities include reading and drawing along with spending time with friends and family.
Recently, Brookfield High School Student Alex Sharp was selected as the MSBA Region 2 Belcher Award winner. .
On April 27, Brookfield High School Senior Kaylynn Bagley signed a letter of intent to dance at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. .
Marceline FFA Plant Sale The Marceline FFA Foundation is hosting its annual Plant Sale from 12-4 p.m., May 2-6 at the school. On May 6 the plant sale will close at 3 p.m.
Recently, the Brookfield Area Chamber of Commerce held its first Chamber Dinner in several years. That evening was celebrated with a variety of awards and silent auction.
