On Saturday, May 14, Friends of Arrow Rock will host and present a unique event, the Antiques and Decorative Arts Symposium—The World of Folk Art. “Folk art is artistic works, such as paintings, sculpture, basketry, and utensils produced by untrained, often anonymous artists or by artisans of varying degrees of skill, marked by such attributes as highly decorative design, bright, bold colors, flattened perspective, strong forms in simple arrangements, and immediacy of meaning.”
The Missouri Livestock Symposium is currently accepting nominations for the Missouri Livestock Achievement Award. This award recognizes an individual or organization demonstrating outstanding achievements and distinguished contributions to the livestock industry. Eligible applicants can be producers of livestock, agribusiness personnel, agency personnel, or agriculture educators in the state of Missouri. Other parties who have been longtime supporters of the Missouri livestock industry will also be considered.

Jeff Case has been named director of the Northern Missouri Research, Extension and Education Center (NM-REEC), effective May 2. The Northern Missouri REEC is one of the four research, Extension and education centers of the Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) in the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR).
Cierstyn Libeer, a junior at Brookfield High School, was selected to attend the 2022 Missouri Girls State, June 11-18, at Lindenwood University, St Charles. The Brookfield Rotary Club and Brookfield Elks Lodge were Girl State sponsors. Girls State educates students in hands on experience on how American government works.
Recently, Aiden Cagle and Teagan Christy were named Marceline Middle and High School Students of the Week. Cagle's activities include band and golf. He enjoys gaming and golfing along with hanging out with friends and family. Christy's activities include band, choir, and acting at the Maples Rep. She enjoys riding her bike and hanging out with friends and family.
